Adoptions
Beginning January 17, 2024, OC Animal Care will offer Daily Adoption Options. The shelter will be open daily for Adoption Visits from 11 a.m. – 5p.m. and open for Viewing Hours from 2 – 5 p.m.
Adoption Visits
- Scheduled visits are available for the convenience of adopters and walk-ins are welcomed to the next available appointment time slot
- Adoption visits can be scheduled in person daily from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

- To schedule an adoption visit, call our main line at (714) 935-6848, and mention the Animal ID# for any specific animal you might be interested in. (Animal ID#s can be found in the animal’s bio on our Adoptable Pets page)
- Adoption Visits for dogs include one-on-one meet-and-greet visits with the specific pet(s) you are interested in adopting. Visitors may spend time with multiple dogs and each time slot includes up to 30 minutes of dedicated time with an Animal Care Team Member.
- Adoption Visits for cats, rabbits, and other animals are not based on a particular pet, but rather include staff assisted walk-throughs of those pets who are available and ready-to-go-home the same day. If the visitor has a specific pet in mind, then staff will prioritize the visiting area based on that pet’s location.
Viewing Hours
- OC Animal Care is open for visitors to drop by to walk through and view ready-to-go-home dogs and cats during viewing hours
Pet Redemptions
We highly recommend scheduling an appointment to redeem your lost dog or cat. This ensures we have staff available to assist you upon your arrival. To book an appointment to redeem your pet, please call us at 714-935-6848.
- If your lost dog or cat is currently licensed and up to date on their rabies vaccination, they may be redeemed 7 days a week from 6:30 AM to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays until 7:00 p.m.
- If your lost dog or cat is not licensed and/or up to date on their rabies vaccination you must redeem your pet during the regular shelter business hours of 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays until 7:00 p.m.

Intake Services
OC Animal Care currently accepts aggressive, injured, or sick animals; underage kittens and puppies; and stray dogs 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For information on what to do if you find a stray pet, please click here.
As space allows, OC Animal Care is able to schedule the admission of owned animals. For more information, please call 714-935-6848.
Field Services
Field Services provides service to thirteen (13) contract cities and the unincorporated areas of Orange County. Animal Control Officers comply with State and County mandates and serve the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For a list of the areas we provide Field Services, please click here.
